Senior PCB Layout Engineer
Job Purpose:
As part of the systems design team, the candidate will perform multilayer, controlled-impedance printed circuit boards layout and analysis for leading edge power, digital and RF electronics for medical, high performance, automotive, and aerospace applications.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform PCB layouts in PCB layout tools to meet critical design and signal integrity constraints.
- Work closely with hardware design, simulation, and manufacturing engineers to define and implement PCB routing and manufacturability constraints.
- Work closely with PCB fabrication companies to ensure impedance design targets are met while meeting manufacturability constraints for high volume production.
- Generate and revise all engineering documentation required to fabricate the PCB designs including ECOs, gerber databases, and fab drawings.
Experience:
- Previous high speed and high density interconnect layout experience involving processor, DDR3/4 memory, and high speed serial interface such as PCIe and Ethernet is a must
- Detailed understanding of high speed digital PCB routing constraints
- Detailed understanding of multilayer PCB construction
- Familiar with constraints-driven PCB layout methodology
- Experience with advanced PCB manufacturing techniques such as blind vias and microvias
- Hands on working knowledge of current PCB layout tools including Mentor Expedition, Cadence Allegro and Altium
- Experience in the use of Mentor Hyperlynx or alike for pre and post route Signal Integrity & Power Integrity simulations
- Solid mechanical drafting skills, experienced with use of AutoCAD for 2D mechanical drawings
- Experience with use of schematic capture tools such as OrCAD, Cadence Concept, or Mentor
- Experience with Rigid Flex design is a plus
- Experience with use of CAM tools such as Valor or CAM350 is a plus.
- Experience with high-reliability, aerospace, and/or IPC Class 3 designs is a plus
- Familiar with DFM, DFA and DFT is desirable
- Solid computer skills. Experience with MS Word/Excel/Project.
- Must be detail oriented and have a proven ability to organize, analyze, set priorities, and multi task in a fast paced environment
- Solid oral and written communication skills
Education:
- BSEE, BSEET degree or equivalent.
- 8+ years experience in layout of high speed PCB
Salary Range(annual): $98,000 - $120,000
