The Sanmina facility in Austin, Texas provides precision machining and mechanical assembly services to customers. Precision machining capabilities include vertical milling, horizontal milling, and turning on a wide range of materials including aluminum, copper, composites, stainless titanium, and high alloy steel with a milling envelope of up to 60" x 50" x 40". The facility specializes in high-mix, low volume production and also offers subassembly, integration, New Product Introduction services, and clean room assembly.

Summary of position:

Contributes to the operation activities related to the machining and assembly of product under the Austin site portfolio

Assemble parts using a variety of tools and/or equipment according to required specification, processes and procedures in a Clean room Environment.

Work includes welding, detailing, and cleaning of parts. The set-up, operation and tool adjustment for machining equipment.

Ideal candidate is familiar with the setup and running of CNC machining equipment,  the use and interpretation of blueprints, process sheets, and sketches to perform production tasks, which includes the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.

 Essential functions and duties:

Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.

Able to read and understand the schematic diagrams, blueprints, product manuals, process documents, and gather information regarding its parts, fixtures, tools, etc.

Performs basic welding activities.

Performs basic maintenance activities.

Operates CNC machines to perform functions on metal or plastic work-pieces.

Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand-tools and precision measuring instruments.

Be able to perform in-process inspection of parts to ensure that they meet the requirements of the provided drawing.

Comply with policies and procedures in support of departmental and institutional health and safety programs.

Non-essential functions and duties:

Confer with supervisors or managers to resolve problems.

Follows all safety and health guidelines/rules for the machine shop

Keeps the work area clean by sweeping, wiping down machines, etc.

Follows the 5S procedures for the department.

Identify problems with the machine and report to supervisor and/or maintenance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

 Mathematical skills: The ability to choose the correct mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.

Reasoning ability: The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

Work is performed in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

The employee may be exposed to dust, oil, coolant, and noise.

The usual noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to adapt to frequent changes to work processes.

 Education & Experience: 

Requires a minimum of 1-2 years industry knowledge.

Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Formal education is a plus. 

Must have basic computer skills (know how to use a computer).

Ability to multitask and prioritize workload to meet strict deadlines under supervision

Read and understand prints and drawings specifications and follow established procedures to assemble products.

Salary Range (annual): $55000 - $68000
