Production Planning Coordinator
Job Purpose:
The Production Planning Coordinator is responsible for leading the end-to-end production planning and scheduling function across multiple manufacturing operations producing racks, cabinets, precision sheet metal components, welded assemblies, and electromechanical products. This role ensures optimal alignment between customer demand, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and inventory strategy while maximizing on-time delivery, operational efficiency, and asset utilization.
The position partners closely with Sales, Program Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics to develop executable production plans. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP), finite capacity scheduling, ERP/MRP systems, and data-driven decision-making within a high-growth manufacturing environment.
Nature of Duties:
- Production Scheduling: Build and execute master production schedules. Manage finite-capacity planning across fabrication, welding, coating, and assembly to eliminate bottlenecks and optimize floor throughput.
- SIOP & Capacity Planning: Lead the monthly Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process. Model short- and long-term capacity requirements for labor and equipment to support business growth and capital investments.
- Inventory Optimization: Establish safety stock targets, reorder points, and lot sizes that protect customer delivery dates while minimizing working capital and reducing excess inventory.
- ERP Master Data: Own and maintain critical planning data within the ERP system: including manufacturing lead times, routings, calendars, and Bills of Material (BOM).
- Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean initiatives to shorten manufacturing lead times, improve schedule attainment, and decrease order change response times.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, or Business.
- Experience: 2 -4 years in production planning scheduling
- Industry Exposure: Hands-on experience in precision metal fabrication, heavy assembly, or electromechanical manufacturing environments.
- Technical Systems: High proficiency with major ERP/MRP platforms (like SAP or Oracle) and advanced data analysis skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Professional certifications such as APICS/ASCM (CPIM or CSCP) and a Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
- Background in data center infrastructure, server racks, telecommunications equipment, or heavy electrical enclosures.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Advanced Planning software (APS), and Theory of Constraints (TOC) methodologies.
