JOB TITLE: Production Lead
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTING TO: Production Manager

OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:
- As the Production Lead you will report to the Production Manager. You will advise and guide operations team, management of shift patterns and ensure the high tech machines are maintained to produce high quality products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead & co-ordinates the day-to-day activities of the operations shift team (including communication with key support department team members) to meet production targets for customer delivery, product quality & cost ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
- Leads the use of lean tools to drive continuous improvement & process reliability.
- Creates a high performing flexible team which achieves excellent results.
- Leads shift daily operations meetings reviewing production data, machines running status, escalations & corrective action to ensure shift targets are achieved.
- Ensures that there is regular communication with team through visual management systems & co-ordinate all production training with extended team in order to perform assigned tasks across production cells.
- Responsible for ensuring that his / her team is trained in their roles & also to support the development of standard work, documentation, training & work instruction activities where appropriate.
- Creates a high performing flexible team which achieves excellent results through coaching/ mentoring & effective performance management.
- Plans all people, material & machine resources to support weekly production schedules.
- Ensure all changeover activities are completed as scheduled along with appropriate line clearance procedures to meet cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) compliance.
- Ensures that batches are manufactured within the validated set up at all times & the quality team are provided with samples for outgoing testing throughout the batch.
- Lead area 5 S+ programme to ensure that housekeeping, cGMP & Safety issues are resolved in a timely & systematic manner thus meeting all company safety, environmental and quality initiatives.
- Ensures equipment & area cleaning, preventative maintenance, calibration schedules inventory control & bar-coding systems are adhered to as per cGMP requirements.
- To provide effective supervision of people which includes headcount planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, timekeeping and attendance, resolution of issues, and timely completion of annual performance appraisals.
- To have a strong technical knowledge of medical device manufacturing technologies and processes.
- To monitor and maintain production KPI's showing actual line performance against standard, for work station throughput; yield, and schedule adherence. To account for variances through accurate reporting of downtime and defect analysis.
- To organize production teams effectively in providing appropriate capacity to meet business demands from a commercial and non commercial standpoint (new process transfers; process development/validations).
- Ensure effective completion of corrective actions as part of the NCR/CAPA system.
- To maintain systems accuracy through compliance with GMP procedures and practices.
- Quality: Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations.
MEASUREMENTS:
- Measurements will be tracked against plant metrics and MBOs tracked as per the annual appraisal process.
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications and Experience:
- Supervisory management
- Minimum of 2-3 years relevant manufacturing experience.
- Level 6 in Supervisory Management.
- A sound understanding of Standard Operating Procedures, line documentation and customer specific requirements.
- Experience in the implementation of Lean manufacturing systems and the application of six sigma problem solving methodology.
