Warehouse Supervisor

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly skilled, dynamic, and rigorous Warehouse Supervisor to lead our material logistics and inventory operations. In this role, you will oversee a high-velocity, high-value inventory exceeding $50M, comprising critical components, raw materials, and advanced sub-assemblies for cutting-edge energy infrastructure, power grid, and medium-voltage distribution equipment sourced from both domestic and international suppliers.

The ideal candidate will manage an expanding, multi-shift plant operation. The plant will operate 2 daily shifts with the flexibility to scale into a 3-shift continuous operation, including weekends. You will directly oversee a dedicated warehouse and materials team (comprising Material Handlers, Receiving Clerks, and Shipping/Logistics personnel) ensuring seamless material flow, flawless inventory accuracy, and optimal labor utilization

Nature of Duties:

Inventory & Materials Management

  • High-Value Stewardship: Oversee the end-to-end integrity of a complex component and raw material inventory valued at $50M+, implementing strict controls to prevent shrinkage, damage, or discrepancies.
  • Inbound & International Logistics: Coordinate the receipt of specialized domestic and international freight, managing custom electronics, heavy raw materials, and high-complexity components.
  • Production Line Feeding & Staging: Ensure accurate, just-in-time (JIT) material staging, "milk runs," and kitting to assembly lines to support aggressive production schedules while mitigating line stoppage risks.
  • Quality & Traceability Controls: Enforce strict FIFO (First-In, First-Out), material segregation, shelf-life validation, and specific environmental/handling storage requirements for sensitive electrical sub-assemblies.
  • Cycle Counting & Material Control: Lead robust cycle counting programs, laydown yard reconciliations, and physical inventories, maintaining a target inventory accuracy rate of 99.5% or higher.

Operations, Labor, & Shift Leadership

  • Multi-Shift Coverage & Scalability: Manage and synchronize warehouse operations across 2 daily shifts including weekends, with the operational readiness to transition into a 24/7, 3-shift model as production dictates.
  • Team Supervision: Directly supervise, coach, develop, and schedule a dedicated plant logistics headcount (including 8+ Material Handlers, Receiving Clerks, and Shipping/Logistics personnel). Manage attendance, timekeeping, and active floor performance.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Partner closely with Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Assembly supervisors to quickly resolve material bottlenecks, receipt discrepancies, or damaged goods.
  • Shipping & Final Dispatch: Oversee the safe loading, blocking, bracing, and dispatch of heavy, high-complexity, and mission-critical industrial equipment, ensuring compliance with specialized domestic and international transport requirements.

Safety, Quality, & Systems

  • Safety Leadership: Enforce strict compliance with OSHA regulations, heavy material handling safety protocols, overhead crane/rigging constraints, and proper PPE usage tailored to heavy industrial equipment manufacturing. Lead incident investigation and root-cause analysis for close-calls or near-misses.
  • Systems Execution (Oracle & 42Q MES): Utilize Oracle ERP alongside 42Q MES to accurately execute real-time material movements, track dock-to-stock times, and manage stock locations. Leverage barcode/scanning interfaces to maintain flawless digital component traceability and ensure component serialization data aligns perfectly with production consumption.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive 5S methodology and lean warehousing practices to optimize layout density, minimize material travel motions, reduce waste, and maximize dock turnaround efficiency.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience: 5+ years of warehouse supervisory, yard management, or materials management experience, ideally within Oil & Gas equipment manufacturing, Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), high-complexity heavy industrial manufacturing, or an advanced energy environment.
  • Inventory Scale: Proven experience managing large-scale, high-value component and asset inventories (valued at $20M+ minimum).
  • Logistics Know-How: Strong understanding of domestic freight, international shipping documentation, customs clearance, and handling of heavy, bulky, or specialized industrial goods.
  • Shift Flexibility: Total flexibility to work, lead, and adapt to scheduling demands across a 2-shift or 3-shift model, including mandatory weekend coverage.
  • Technical Savvy: Direct, hands-on experience utilizing Oracle (or equivalent Tier 1 ERP like SAP) and cloud-based MES/WMS platforms for real-time tracking and shop-floor component scanning. Strong Excel skills (formulas, data manipulation) are required.
  • Leadership: Exceptional communication, labor-scheduling, and floor management skills with the ability to build a culture of accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or APICS (CPIM/CSCP) preferred.
  • Licensed or certified to train employees on heavy forklift operation (PIT) or specialized materials handling equipment (cranes, hoists, rigging).

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Must be able to navigate a bustling, multi-shift industrial manufacturing plant environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and navigate warehouse floors and staging yards for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Environment involves exposure to industrial noise, heavy machinery, moving forklifts, and varied temperature conditions within the warehouse docks.
