Shipping Clerk

Job Purpose:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming products ready for shipment. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damages to inventory.

Nature of Duties:

• Order Processing: Prepare, package, seal, and label outgoing products correctly and on time.
• Documentation: Create and check shipping documents like bills of lading, packing slips, and digital manifests.
• Receiving & Inspecting: Unload incoming deliveries, count merchandise, and check items for damage or missing parts.
• Inventory Tracking: Update computer databases or logs to reflect real-time stock levels and organize warehouse storage.
• Communication: Coordinate with delivery drivers, freight carriers, and internal departments like customer service

Education and Experience:

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Attention to detail: Spotting item discrepancies and recording precise inventory counts.
• Physical stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy boxes (often 50 pounds or more).
• Technical skills: Basic computer literacy and experience with warehouse scanners or database spreadsheets.
• Communication: Working smoothly with delivery drivers, vendors, and internal team members.
