Job Purpose

Sanmina’s Oil and Gas Division group located in the Houston, Texas area is looking for a part time skilled technician with experience using a microscope to assemble small components.  The successful candidate will be hardworking, organized and ready to learn new tasks.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

• Handle and setup of optical components

• Handle and setup test equipment

• Assist in developing working instructions

• Work on an opto-electrical-mechanical alignment station to build prototypes

• Receive and Kit material for prototype builds

• Document and suggest improvements in product design, process and test steps

• Work with epoxies, adhesives and soldering

• Maintain records of processes, travelers, failure reports, test reports, etc.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor degree in Electrical engineering desired 

• 2 years experience supporting Manufacturing or Service including board repair test equipment

• Ability to follow oral and written guidelines

• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

• Has willingness to learn, takes initiative, and offers improvement ideas

• Lab skills including, but not limited to bread-boarding, troubleshooting

• Work in a lab and clean room environment with an operational understanding of each

• Ability to work with small objects using a microscope

• Mechanical and fine motor skills

• Basic knowledge and experience with opto-electrical test equipment

• Knowledge of materials, tooling, and mechanical assembly skills for electronic and optical products

• Discrete optics and fiber handling 

• Ability to follow oral and written guidelines or drawings and create precise written instruction

• Detail oriented

• Excellent Computer skills

• Willingness to learn 

• Takes initiative
