Accountant 1
The Fixed Assets Accountant is responsible for reviewing and approving capital expenditures
(CAPEX) for accuracy and completeness in accordance with company policy and GAAP. This
position manages full-cycle fixed asset transactional work—including capitalization, asset
transfers, and retirements—requiring active communication and collaboration with plant and
project contacts.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Financial Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare journal entries, maintain individual
fixed asset roll-forward schedules, and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts in
compliance with GAAP and company guidelines. CAPEX Management: Review and approve capital expenditure requests; ensure
transactions meet capitalization thresholds and criteria. Asset Lifecycle Processing: Execute day-to-day transactional activities including
capitalization, internal transfers, disposals, and retirements. Cross-Functional Communication: Partner directly with plant managers, project leads,
and department heads to verify asset status and resolve discrepancies. Time Management: Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet strict
CAPEX tracking and period-end close deadlines. Adaptability & Collaboration: Work collaboratively within the team while maintaining
flexibility to adjust pace as project volumes fluctuate.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Experience: 0 to 2 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis. Technical Skills:
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word).
o Understanding and working knowledge of GAAP standards. Soft Skills:
o Strong written and verbal communication skills.
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
o Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
