Inbound Expeditor & Logistics Coordinator

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a proactive, highly organized Inbound Expeditor & Logistics Coordinator to manage, track, and accelerate the flow of materials from international suppliers to our production plant. While our Global Logistics Group handles high-level carrier contracts and primary freight management, you will serve as the plant-level owner responsible for daily tracking, identifying potential customs or transit bottlenecks, and resolving delivery issues.

Nature of Duties:

  • Supplier & Freight Expediting: Proactively track international orders from factory dispatch through final plant delivery, maintaining daily visibility on transit milestones.
  • Inbound Logistics Coordination: Partner with internal Buyers to align incoming raw materials and heavy componentry with manufacturing deadlines.
  • Customs & Tariff Interface: Monitor import documentation (Commercial Invoices, Bills of Lading, Packing Lists) to ensure proper HS code classification, tariff handling, and smooth border clearance.
  • Global Logistics Liaison: Work directly with our corporate Global Logistics Group and customs brokers to resolve port holds, transit delays, or documentation errors.
  • Receiving & Dock Alignment: Coordinate arrival schedules with plant receiving teams to optimize dock capacity and prepare for incoming freight.
  • Outbound Support (Minimal): Assist with occasional customer dock pickups and minor outgoing shipments as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of supply chain, materials expediting, or inbound logistics experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Inbound & Trade Knowledge: Familiarity with international transit timelines, INCOTERMS, customs clearance steps, and basic tariff/HS code structures.
  • Vendor & Forwarder Relations: Proven ability to persistent follow up with suppliers, freight forwarders, and logistics teams to keep shipments moving.
  • Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for order tracking and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proactive Problem Solver: Relentless drive to hunt down tracking information and resolve shipping disruptions before they impact production schedules.
  • Cross-Functional Communicator: Strong ability to connect the dots between overseas suppliers, internal corporate logistics teams, buyers, and local plant operators.
  • Detail-Oriented: Meticulous approach to reviewing shipping documentation to prevent customs delays and duty miscalculations.
