Duties of Position:

Effectively manage a key portion of $300M+ of annualized capital equipment global spend Integrated Manufacturing Systems (IMS) division. This position requires a good working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing, equipment suppliers, negotiation skills and contract management experience , assembly processes,  technology and reports into Vice President of Capital Equipment team.  Each equipment category is comprised of several million dollars with multiple models.  This position will be a highly visible in the organization and will require interaction with senior management, plant engineers, regional and corporate purchasing organizations and supply Chain related teams.  Coordinate global purchasing negotiations, corporate purchasing agreements and needed activities to procure equipment, and supplies in cost effective and timely manner.  Has some basic technical understanding of equipment and processes; performs spend analysis for equipment and maintenance services. 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will focus on the procurement and negotiations related to IMS (Integrated Mechanical Systems) equipment suppliers and require exceptional negotiation skills and a working knowledge of PCBA related technologies. The individual will be required to negotiate to cost reduce the equipment cost and get favorable terms and conditions while working with the plant engineering teams for supplier selections.

This member of Capital Equipment team will be responsible for:  

  1. Selection and management of all PCBA related electronics Capital Appropriation Requests (iCARs) and electronic Purchasing Requests (iPRs).
  2. Achieving on-going cost reductions, implementing global corporate negotiated agreements and develop Approved Vendor Lists (AVLs) and gaining best supplier payment terms that when combined, minimizes cash cycle days. 
  3.  Identifying, evaluating, and qualifying alternate suppliers, arranging equipment evaluations and getting the selected suppliers placed on approved vendor list (AVL) as needed. 
  4. Improving supplier quality and continuous improvement of supplier performance measurements. 
  5. Interacting with Plant Management, Account Management, and Supplier Management to achieve needs of the business. 
  6. Working with cross functional teams of commodity managers, component engineers, chemical engineers, data analysts and other plant related teams. Frequently review current capital equipment corporate AVL, perform plant level capabilities gap analysis. Address any capability gaps and revise the AVL as applicable. Frequently review the Capital Equipment trends and available solutions. Identify, source, select and qualify capital equipment and accessories ensuring competitive pricing and alignment with customer expectations. Assist and lead plants as applicable in addressing and resolving any customer escalation issues. Work with plants in product on-boarding including front-end engineering tasks as well as financial and capital investment optimization. 

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering  from an accredited college,  APICS or CPM certification. 
  • Preferably five or more years experience in PCBA related commodites. 
  • Experience in working with cross functional teams.  Proven cost reduction and asset management skills. 
  • Effective contract negotiator. 
  • Proficient using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience in global sourcing and  working knowledge of Oracle ERP system and PO generation will be helpful.
