The Sanmina Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems solution manufacturing plant.  Located in California’s Silicon Valley, this facility produces low-to-mid volume New Product Introduction (NPI) runs to full-scale volume.  The Fremont facility offers everything from small piece parts to fully integrated and tested systems.  Supporting diverse technology sectors including semiconductor, telecommunications, and medical equipment, the Fremont facility offers a wide array of services including sheet metal fabrication, welding, painting and clean room assembly.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated solutions across our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will be passionate about optimizing efficiency, reducing manual effort, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our systems through innovative automation strategies.  Grow Sanmina Automation capabilities to win new revenue through offering cost effective and competitive assembly options.  Enhance and showcase the site’s automation capabilities by keeping up to date on the latest technologies and introducing these technologies where applicable.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

  • Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and well-documented automation scripts, frameworks, and applications.
  • Integrate automated solutions with existing systems and infrastructure.
  • Support engineering builds.

Testing and Deployment:

  • Develop and execute test plans for automated solutions to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Conduct debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization of automation scripts and systems.
  • Deploy and configure automation solutions in various environments (development, staging, production).

Maintenance and Support:

  • Monitor automated processes and systems for performance, errors, and anomalies.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing automation solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated systems in a timely manner.

Documentation and Collaboration:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and training materials.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including QA engineers, operations teams, manufacturing engineers and program managers, to understand requirements and deliver effective automation solutions.
  • Project manages the development of automation when required for new product development/introduction projects as well as existing products.
  • Provide technical reports/proposals and simulations for production lines.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest automation technologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement and propose innovative solutions to enhance automation capabilities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of automation processes and methodologies.
  • Support problem solving and issue resolution on existing lines in support of manufacturing as and when required.

Education and Experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Mechatronics /Instrumentation Engineering
  • 3 - 5 years or more of experience in manufacturing engineering within the Contract manufacturing for semiconductor industry.
  • 3 years or more of experience in the assembly, integration, and acceptance/qualification testing
  • Relevant experience interpreting and creating engineering spec, drawings, models
  • Equipment knowledge and process debug troubleshooting skills

Desirable:

  • Preferred experience with Oracle
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Lean practice implementation

Salary Range(annual): $80,000 - $95,000 . Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package.  The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
