Job Purpose:
Work includes assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.
Nature of Duties:
- Directly responsible for machining product to meet specifications and drawings from work orders.
- Properly and safely perform set up, adjust, and operate assigned CNC machining equipment.
- Perform varying levels of shop mathematics and record SPC as required with machining operations.
- Self starter – works with limited supervision.
- Ability to independently interpret specifications.
- Experience in collaborating with QC department. Able to use technical tools and instruments required to complete router operations, including use of calipers, micrometers, and other special purpose gauges.
- Capable of proper part fixturing, tool changes, and completing machine offsets.
- Utilize computer network to retrieve relevant machining programs and other documentation as required.
- Responsible for departmental 5S and basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Identify problems in machining processes – bring awareness and suggestions for resolution to production leaders and managers.
- Produce quality products with allowable defect rate and participate in corrective action improvement teams.
- Maintain attendance at company acceptable level.
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years experience in Low Volume / High Mix Manufacturing Environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Mazak/Mazitriol experience is a plus.
